Suddenly my 4 years old SUA1500i has started signaling "battery disconnected" (dead battery led is blinking and endless intermittent beep). Before buying a new battery i would like to be sure the problem is only the battery and not the whole ups. This is the description of what happened and of the tests i performed:
1) The "battery disconnected" alarm started suddenly, previously self-test were all completed without errors
2) i tried to turn off and then on again the ups, it almost immediately went into "battery disconnected" condition
3) i tried to braindead the ups (no main power, battery cable disconnected), with the same result as the 2)
4) Pulled out the battery, checked the cable, but everything looked as normal.
5) I manually measured the battery voltage: it was 25 V
6) i noticed that the fan is not operating as usual, every 30 seconds it stops and restarts ( always at low speed)
As you can imagine i'm not convinced the problem is the battery. Why the UPS is signaling battery disconnected ? If the battery was completely dead i imagine the ups cannot sense it, but i measured 25V!!!
Any suggestions ?
