SUA1500I shutdown and six led blinking when low voltage compensation occur

Hi everyone,
I'm owner of a SUA1500I smart-ups.
My problems started today, when the unit started to shutdown without any particular reason. Actually it doesn't shutdown completely, by meaning that when the unit usually shutdown, the led are all switched off, instead in my case six led start blinking 'till I press the OFF button.
What I've realized is that the problem occurs when the low-voltage compensation system runs. Aftter just half second than the LOW-VOLTAGE led switch on, this problem occurs.
In my apartment I usually have a low voltage, 213-215 V, so out from the 220-230V range, indeed the unit sometime use the Low-voltage compensation, but nothing of similar happened before today. It happens with any type of load, also with 2 or 3 switch and 1 router, so I can exclude an overload as well as a battery problem, the latter because I've changed it on last October, and becouse if I plug-out the line cord from the wall plug, the problem doesn't occur (nothing to compensate!!!!).

The following is the LOG string generated when the problem occurs

*14.06.2010 03:02:57 UPS: An automatic voltage regulator (AVR) relay fault exists.*

Do someone had a similar problem with such kind of APC Units?
Thank you in advancel.

Sebastiano

Hi JonPro,
you focused exactly the issue. I can turn on the ups again but it shuts down again as soon as the AVR Trim starts to "compensate" the voltage being fed to it by the line. I have tried to "bypass" the problem by lowering the lowVoltage threshold from 208V to 204V or lower, and so the unit stays on as the AVR doesn't start, but it would be more dangerous for all the HW units connected to the UPS, as this procedure is like to exclude the AVR Trim. Indeed, the unit is essential for me especially in summer like now, as many people widely use air conditioning systems, and I often have a low voltage in my apartment (210V low pe instead of regular 220W, or lower values in the instant the air cond. units rise-up), and unfortunately the italian energy company allows a 10% of oscillation around the 220Volts value, so by contract they are OK.
Unfortunately the warranty already expired, I bought his unit on July 2007. What I dislike of this situation is that I bought a new battery pack just 7 months ago!!!!!.
Anyhow...at this point I would like to join the trade-ups program for replace this unit with an identical model. Otherwise I will try to open it and to replace the faulty components.

Thank you.

That would really happen everytime that UPS would try to boos/ trim the input voltage, it's like to relay fails to return to normal state. I would suggest that you contact the APC Support Group for your region.
