SUA1500 counterfeit unit?

Hi,

I suspect something fishy here, i just got a "brand new" old SUA1500, which came with PowerChute Plus, no USB port and after taking the cover off, the batteries do not have the standard replacement battery connector. And if you look inside the back where the expansion card goes, there is no connector for it. Also the print on the batteries have a broken p everywhere. And the logo is more like a D, seems like purposeful avoidance of trademark infringement.

Is this just one of the very first revisions that are like this or a very scraped early model?

Hoping for some qualified feedback here.

I would class that as a fire hazard, get it returned. It has fake batteries, you have no idea how bad they are.

I agree here that with all of the clues you've gathered, it does appear to be a counterfeit or non-genuine unit. Model/SN label also looks fishy to me.

Is there a way we can confirm that the serial number is illegit?

Is there a place APC Let's me register UPS products and i can confirm it's counterfeit?

Go to www.apc.com and select Support from the menu bar. Then select product registration & warranty services.  

All APC UPS ship with a bar code sticker. Below is an example

In many cases counterfeit units either do not have the sticker or the sticker has been altered.
