Hello. Just a question. Can the firmware of a Smart 700 UPS model SU700rmi2u be UPGRADED? Or this only can be done removing the chip inside and burning it with a memory burner? Regards. Mariano

hi
you are right, the firmware on the actual UPS itself is not field replaceable/upgradable and is only done at the factory by flashing/replacing the EEPROM inside the UPS.

Dan,
as far as I know, there is no way for you to flash the firmware of the unit in question to convert it as the U.S model. And also you can not change the UPS outlets to the U.S specific NEMA outlets. Secondly, APC does not normally recommend this type of modification as it will not comply with Industry standard approvals.

So if I for example had a SUA750RMI1U from Japan, and wanted it converted to the US version, could the factory flash the firmware to domestic? And if so, how much would a procedure like that cost? (I'm guessing since the voltage is 100vac vs 120vac it is probably the exact same hardware inside.)
