SU1400INET problems

The battery died in this unit, and was left dead for quite a long period, so we've just replaced it to bring the unit back into service to use in a small office.

It all seems to be working ok, and PowerChute-Business tells me that it has 100% battery capacity with an estimated runtime on 24% load of 75min, which is all good and well.

However, as soon as I attempt to increase the load (to 40%) I get a long continuous beep that won't go away.

No lights are flashing, and PowerChute-Business doesn't report a problem, but the UPS is just screaming it's head off without indicating why.

I've tried running a calibration test, but that didn't fix it.

I'm guessing that this is something to do with going dead flat and not knowing the capacity, but I don't know how to fix it.

Hi,

Yes, I've tried to brain-dead it (LEDs didn't flash, but I definitely heard it 'CLICK') however it makes no difference.

PowerChute doesn't log any events, the overload LED doesn't light up (I can make that happen with an appropriate load) and the UPS appears to be functioning otherwise, it will even support a power-out and provide the expected run-time, but obviously we can't just ignore the alarm tone.

Very disappointing, given that we just bought new batteries for it, which were not cheap.

Mike,

The continuous tone indicates the UPS is going into over load mode. It should not do that at a 40 percent load. Have you tried to brain dead the unit?

To brain dead

1) Turn off and unplug UPS from wall
2) Press and hold the OFF button again
3) You may see a quick flash of the LED's and you should hear an audible "click" from the UPS.
4) Plug UPS back into the wall and turn UPS back on

If that does not resolve the issue then the unit should be replaced.
