SU1000RM2U 6 Middle LEDs Flashing

Model SU1000RM2U UPS that has all 6 "middle" LEDs flashing about twice per second (all but the load and battery charge).
The batteries have been repalced, and I've tried all the other usual tricks - power on/off, reset, change sensitivity, yell, kick, scream.
When first powered on, it starts to go through its self-tests, then about 2 secs later the LEDs start flashing. Pressing and holding the On/Test button does nothing. PowerChute seems to be able to communicate with it OK, but not really able to do anything that helps. Under UPS status, it's listed as "Initializing". Starting the self-test from PowerChute locks up the program, and doesn't appear to do anything to the UPS.

I've worked on litterally 100+ of this model UPS, and have never seen this specific problem. Is it just toast, or is there a fix for it?

Hi JCarr, the issue you have described sounds more like a UPS issue rather than a battery issue. The only real troubleshooting you can do would be to turn the unit off, unplug it from the wall and then either hold down the off button for 10 seconds or remove the batteries for 10 seconds and then reconnect them. If this does not fix the issue, or the issue returns, the unit will most likely have to be replaced (if the unit is still under warranty I would suggest calling in to tech support for further assistance). Hope this helps.

i believe this is a fault condition and indicates an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation) relay weld.

i looked in here and it indicates a fault condition: http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z8LEM_R0_EN.pdf

i got that from the SKU web page -> http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SU1000RM2U&tab=documentatio...

it should be repaired by a facility such as Coastal Business Machines or replaced. You may be able to clear the fault but if the relay is welded, the problem will just come back when the relay is needed. you could try a braindead by removing AC power and turning the UPS off. Then hold down the (o) off button and wait for a click.
