Dear Forum,
for protecting IT equipment i use
In case of power blackout the following happens
In case the blackout is fixed
Problem-description:
After an major blackout our new SRT8KXLI reacts with an 00020 Error and turned the output power off
This error occurs after the blackout wos fixed which means -> after the automatic switching from generator power back to main power
No problems with the 2200 and 1500 UPS
APC replaced the UPS
For testing the new SRT8KXLI we simulated an blackout (use of generator), with exactly the same result -> Power Sys Error 00020 and backfeed relay fault exists, and again no issues with UPS 2200, 1500
Here is the LOG:
I need to know under what circumstances the UPS produces and 00020 Error and why the smaller 2200 and 1500 UPS are not affected
Many thanks

A backfeed relay fault is supposed to indicate that the UPS' backfeed relay isn't behaving correctly. This relay disconnects the UPS from AC hot during a power failure, so the electricity generated by the UPS doesn't backfeed into mains or your generator. Backfeed protection is required so that circuits feeding the UPS can be de-energized and made safe for electrical work which would be difficult if the UPS kept it energized. The UPS detects if it doesn't open or close as it should.
As for why you're seeing the exact same fault on the replacement, that is really odd. I would call APC tech support, complain and ask about generator compatibility.

Hi Maxim,
I just wrapped my related case up today. A firmware update on the unit itself solved the issue. Check to see if your ups is on firmware 4.4, if it isn't the instructions and files are in the link below.

Hi Maxim,
I am actually currently working with another customer that has this issue on a srt10k. We replaced the ups and the same exact issue came back. They have other ups's that are not affected but are on a different panel. We are currently in the process of putting a power analyzer between the input of the ups and the upstream panel to see if there is anything that could be causing it on the power side.
I will post back in this thread when we reach a resolution on it.
-Mike

Thank you for the answer, we try update firmware to 4.4, our UPS have 4.3.
I have one more question, how can I update firmware with no shutdown out power over NMS ?

Good day.
I had an error "00020 Error and turned the output power off". Current firmware UPS 04.4. The error only occurs when the load (10-15% load) is connected, if you disable input on the switch. After switching off the load, and turn on the switch input, the UPS switches to bypass, after 5-8 seconds the UPS is included in the normal mode.
UPS SRT10KRMXLI.

Hi Mauro,
I am experiencing the same issues. However we do not have a separate generator onsite. We're also on firmware 4.4
How was this fixed for you?
Regards.
