SRT2200RMXLI console connection and RJ45 built in
I have just taken receipt of a brand new SRT2200RMXLI and installed it into the rack. Everything looks good, however if I try to connect to the console port with the provided console to serial cable, I get no re4sponse from putty (I am using a usb to serial adapter that I know works with a cisco switch in the same location)
However this model also came with an RJ45 just under the console port (has two lights just like a normal network connection) however this port is not documented at all in the manual that came with the UPS and it doesn't appear to work at all, no lights when connected to the switch with a known good cable.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me ? I would like to configure this UPS but dont seem to be able to connect to it to do so.

When connecting to the UPS over serial connection you must use the supplied cable provided by APC. As the (APC) cable is using a non standard serial pin out which the entire industry uses!
Failure to use the correct (wired pin out) serial cable can and will shut down the UPS! You can always make your own by doing a simple Google search too. Lastly, the other RJ45 below the console port should have been affixed by a black square plastic cover.
This RJ45 port has no functionality and was intended for future use by APC. Which as far as I am aware hasn’t ever been defined or employed.
Lastly, you probably know this already. Using a USB to DB9 converter doesn’t work! Besides needing USB drivers APC has a simple signalling vs smart signalling protocol.
