SOHO Powerchute setup
I'm running four desktop terminals (one one w10, the other three on w7 with most migrating to 10 within the next year or so), all networked a little mini server (running windows home server 11 (w2k8r2)) along with a router, access point, & networked printer in my SOHO environment. All of the terminals are 24" dual screens with a sole 38" wide screen. My UPS system is currently kinda cobbled together (a historic Smart-ups 1500 & two Back-ups 500's). So posting here, I'm wondering if anyone could offer some setup advice. I'd like to setup a new UPS system.
There are times I travel and remote into either the server or a terminal. So using Powerchute to manage unattended shut downs sounds like something I should implement.
So here is where the decision gets confusing.
If I go with something like four individual Smart-UPS SC 420VA/620VA or Back-UPS BE850M2, 850VA, I'm guessing each terminal would be running Powerchute Business / Powerchute Personal (depending on the UPS) with a USB connection to each UPS & each shutdown managed by the terminal individually. Is that correct?
What would the advantages or disadvantages be of having a dedicated UPS for each terminal vs a single SMT2200 / SMT3000 with good extension cords & power strips. And with a centralized UPS setup in my environment, is it possible and/or advisable to control the shutdowns with Powerchute Network ?
