SNMP setup for SUA3000RMI2U
Hello
This is my 1st post so please apologise if I missed some regulation or asking some nonsense question.
I have been using SUA3000RMI2U for about a year without an issue and happy with its performance so far.
However, I came across term SNMP UPS setup on YouTube, it could be very useful feature for my rack setup.
So far I have study that I will need a Network card in order to setup SNMP & found some good deal of used APC AP9631 on eBay but I am not sure if this card will work on SUA3000RMI2U and does it support SNMP? It could be great if anyone could recommend me the network card to match my need.

You can use either the AP9630, AP9631, AP9640, AP9641 NMC. All of the NMC cards listed here support SNMP v1 / v3. You'll want to update any of the NMC cards to the latest v7.1.2 firmware to obtain the latest fix's and features.
The NMC can be inserted (Hot Swap) while the UPS is already running without issues. You'll want to download or read the online manual as to how to factory reset the NMC unit in case it has previous credentials and settings. Once the NMC has been defaulted to factory settings the user name / password is apc in lower case.
Lastly, its important to understand the following as it relates to used NMC cards.
- Firmware: Only download and install the firmware for your UPS. Any other firmware for say a Symetra UPS will cause all kinds of problems. Update using the FTP option vs SCP when the choice is presented.
- Battery: The coin cell allows the NMC to keep the correct time. If the coin cell is below 2.70 volts and if the UPS should ever lose power the time will be off - see NTP. The coin cell isn't considered replaceable but can be if you have soldering skills.
- NTP: Insure the NMC is assigned an accurate NTP Server / Pool. This is especially important if the above coin cell is depleted. This also impacts the system logs, and creation of certificates should the need arise.
- Networking: Either assign a static IP address to the NMC or better yet Reserve the MAC address. Insure the NMC isn't blocked on the internal LAN by firewall rules. Doing so will cause / result in the NMC's Watch Dog Timer to reboot the NMC.
