SNMP for "E-mail Test Result" and "The system needs to reboot for a configuration change to take effect"
Hello,
I have about 40 UPS systems that I manage. For correct configuration and operation I use both the config.ini download using FTP and SNMP. Both are automated.
I have configured email notifications and this works. But I want to make sure that email keeps working over time. So I would like to check the "E-mail Test Result" and also perhaps trigger a E-mail Test. Is there a way to do this using SNMP? I haven't seen this in the SNMP OID. Or is there another way to check this?
And when you change some settings you often get the message "The system needs to reboot for a configuration change to take effect". But I forget to do this sometimes. Is there a way to check if a NMC reboot is pending? Perhaps using SNMP?

I know of no way to generate a test email. I believe you can set it to alert you when there is a self test which by default is every 14 days. If that helps at all.
As far as the rebooting goes that depends on how you are scripting the FTP transfers and the like. You can use putty though a script but this is also unreliable when the computer does not have someone actively logged in and also makes the computer all but usable. You could also try plink but the version of plink you use also depends on the version of firmware of the gear. any version above 0.67 (I think that is what it is) will not work with anything below 6.0 APC firmware. Basically if you have to push numbers for selecting a menu then versions above 0.67 will not work.
