I had a SMX750 turn off due to, most likely, a poor power condition from the utility. It does not have a network mgmt. card installed and the PowerChute software was not configured. I don't have the cable that came with the unit but will get APC Cable: RJ45 to DB9 PN: 940-0625.
As an aside, I did setup the PowerChute software Agent, but it doesn't show events before the software was installed. Additionally, I configured the LCD to show the Logs but they are abreviated - no date or details.
Can I expect to connect to the unit with a serial cable and view the logs?
If yes, are there any special commands required once connected? Will it be self explanatory, once connected via HyperTerminal?
Thanks,
Dan

If im not mistaken, you can tview any logs of power events unless the ups was attached to a computer with power-chute open when the event occurred, Sorry

yes, thats correct. the software would need to be running to capture the logs - same with the network management card too. the powerchute service only needs to be running, not actually having it open in a browser or similar.

i am confirming that yes, the software needs to be running to capture any detailed logs. you will not getting older logs if you install the software now or connect serially. what you saw on the LCD is what the UPS can store - last 10 transfer reasons and last 10 faults.

To confirm. Connecting a serial cable will not show historical logs? I'm not connecting to the network mgmt. card, as there is not one installed.
Thanks,
Dan
