SMX1000i unable to access web UI / telnet / ssh

Hello,

I'm trying to access the web UI on two of my SMX1000i APC Smart-UPS units, but I’m encountering issues regardless of the browser used.

  1. Web UI Login Issue:
    When I reach the login screen and enter my credentials, the page crashes. I’ve tried resetting the network card multiple times and connected my laptop directly to the unit, but the issue persists.

  2. SSH Access:
    SSH appears to be unavailable, as the port does not seem to be open.

  3. Telnet Access:
    When I attempt to connect via Telnet on port 23, I am prompted for a username and password. However, after entering the credentials (tried apc / apc and other previous login details), I receive a "Connection to host lost" message.

Any advice on how I can regain access as well as update the firmware would be greatly appreciated.

You may consider formatting the NMC by pressing and holding the reset button for 20+ seconds than release.

 

It will take approximately 60-120 seconds for the NMC to format and default the system.

 

DHCP will be enabled and the user name and password is all lower case: apc

 

Report back what the final outcome is. πŸ‘

Hello.

 

I will try this tomorrow when I'm next in the office. 

 

In the meantime, are you able to share the actual firmware URL for this appliance and steps to deploy? I have tried several, all of which have failed. Could be related to the NMC, but just wanted to make sure I have the correct firmware before attempting again.

@Teken Hi, just to confirm that resetting the NMC for over 20seconds resolved the issue. Are you able to assist with the firmware update or should i create a separate topic?

Please use the APC Resource Link:

 

You have the option to install v7.1.2 or v7.1.6 NMC Firmware.

 

Choose (Only) the firmware that is labeled Smart-UPS. Do (NOT) download any firmware for (SY) Semmetra! ☝️

 

Please read the (Read Me) file to understand the difference between 7.1.2 vs 7.1.6 and which is more appropriate for your environment.
