SMX1000 double beep every 30 seconds
We recently received a replacement SMX1000 after the originally purchased unit began switching between line and battery operation every 3-5 seconds. Of course, this made our connected load unhappy and inoperable.
APC replaced the unit after some extended Q&A by their support group. The new unit was installed and seemed to operate properly. We load tested the unit and with our 200VA load, the run time was about 80 minutes.
Now, several weeks later, the replacement unit has started to act strangely. Every 30 seconds or so, the unit emits a double beep. Occasionally the units beeps rapidly with no specific cadence, perhaps 10 beeps in 2 seconds.
Also, the fault log is showing entries, such as Battery over temp and low output voltage.
A APS self-test passes. Unplugging the unit from the line does a transfer to batteries and the connected devices continue to operate.
It appears that the replacement unit is also defective. However, we would like to understand the meaning of the double beep.
Is there a document, besides the relatively basic "Operations Manual" that describes the various alert tones?
