Yes, the battery cartridge should be removed if this unit will be held in long term storage. The reason for doing so is to prevent the scenario where the battery cartridge swells and becomes stuck inside of the housing. 🤦♂️
Once a month the cartridge should be reinstalled and the (UPS) unit turned on to recharge the cells for 24-72 hours. Failure to maintain the battery cartridge will result in damaged cells and extra long term business costs.
Take a sticky note and document each time the battery cartridge has been recharged. 👍
NOTE: Insure the unit is securely and safely stored in a conditioned space. Respect the storage temperatures called out by APC as it relates Lithium / LiFePO4 cells.
