I have a 1yr old smart-ups 1000 which works fine. Yesterday we had our first extended power outage, and while run time and performance was great, I notice it's slow to fully recharge.
After 24 hours the batteries were 97% charged. After 48 hours they are 99.8% charged.
Is this normal?

This is normal behaviour after the RBC has been depleted.
The average service life is 2-5 years based on usage, temperature, and environmental conditions. The RBC is rated to provide 260 full cycles when new.
Charging input voltage is temperature compensated and varies with ambient temperature measured at the RBC and internal compartment of the main board.
The RBC should return to 100% SOC within 72 hours in the worst case unless the following are present / true:
Temperature: If the environment is very hot this will impact the charging.
Battery: If the internal resistance has increased this will cause the battery to heat up and take longer to recharge.
