Hi,
I am planning to get an APC UPS for 2 Windows 2003 servers and 3 debian Linux servers. In case of a power failure of more than 10 minutes, I'd like to shutdown them all.
So I guess it would be great to install some PowerChute Daemon on one of the Windows boxes which in case of a power failure of more than 10 minutes shuts down the debian Linux boxes and itself, finally. This event should be logged. Can this be done with PowerChute Business 5 Nodes? Can I fire an application in case of shutdown which remotely shuts down the Linux boxes? How can this be done?

It seems the best solution is to run apcupsd in master mode on one of the Linux boxes and apcupsd in slave mode on the Windows ones. You can determine very exactly under which circumstances every node will be shut down.

It depends on which UPS you purchase. Our Smart UPS work with powerchute business edition. I'm not familar with debian Linux servers but we do support a few different types of linux. The link below shows the OS' we support. You would need to install it on the Linux servers.
