I have 200+ APC RC100 cooling units that I need to enter the IP address on. I have tried the IP wizard tool and cannot get it to connect from a usb-serial cable to the unit. Any ideas?

Its been a while since I've serial'd into a RC but I believe if you follow these login instructions you can get to the network settings and assign an IP address. This won't save any time but will save your thumbs. Personally I'd try and find a DHCP server to auto assign the IP address. I'd assume with a data center the would require 200+ rc's you'd have something lying around to accomplish this..
Note: To access the serial port, remove the rear panel and lower air filter of the InRow RC.
1. Select a serial port at the local computer,
and disable any service that uses that port.
2. Connect the APC modem cable (APC part
number 940-0103) to the selected port on
the computer and to the serial port at the
InRow RC (use the DB-9 connector on the
back of the electrical board).
3. Run a terminal program (such as
HyperTerminal
®
) and configure the
selected port as follows:
– 9600 bps
– 8 data bits
– no parity
– 1 stop bit
– no flow control
4. Press enter a few times to display login
User name and password are apc
Press CTRL+C, log off, reconnect any serial cable you disconnected, restart any service you
disabled, reinstall the lower air filter, and replace the rear panel

What I've found with all the RC100 I've configured is that they all come from the factory with a preset IP address.
192.168.50.4
I have no idea why it's done this way, nothing else seems to have a preconfigured IP.
You might be able to take advantage of this;
Configure a laptop on the same segment and connect to the RC in question with a Cat5 patch cable.
Make your adjustments, move to the next one.
On the other hand, if you have these on the private side of ISX central; connect the ethernet port, press the reset button.

you can take a look at the following two knowledgebase articles:

http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3061 - How do you make a network management card communicate on a network?
some of the tools/procedures above may help you do multiple units at time.
