Our current Solaris Server version 10 does not have java or Xwindows, because we do not need them to do what we are doing here. Is their a workaround for this to install it? Also, what is the purpose of having the 2 (java and Xwindows)? Are these programs required to run the software?
When I execute the command this is what I see?
/p25/tmp$ ./pcns221sol.bin
.......Preparing wizard...
Searching for JVM...
Starting the wizard...
Error: You need Swing 1.1 or 1.2 in your classpath to run this program.
See errors.log for other possible causes.out of disk space?
/p25/tmp$ ls
errors.log jinstall.log pcns221sol.bin
/p25/tmp$ more errors.log
Wed Feb 27 15:08:00 2008 Java wizard not started properly
See errors.log for other possible causes.out of disk space?
Wed Feb 27 15:08:00 2008 Other possible causes for errors:
* Read/write access rights to the 'temp' and installation directories?
* OS need to be patched to run Java apps?
* Anti-virus software installed that won't permit unknonwn executable or JAR files to run

Yes I did install PCNS 2.2.3 on my Linux that has no X-windows running.. PCNS 2.2.3 is more complex than previous version but it does no longer need X-winows running. Maybe this is something that should be stated in install guide. As for Java, I thought the kbase I attached was very clear. It not, please let me know.

The PCNS web interface is a java based interface. X-windows is required because the install of the software pops up a java application.

Hey,
Try to download the latest PCNS version 2.2.3 that does not need x-window to install PCNS.
As for whether or not install Java, please refer to this Kbase.

Also please note PCNS 2.2.3 has different install file for solars sparc and x64/X86. This is latest PCNS compatibilty chart. Just FYI:
