I've got a Symmetra 40K THORC456 - and am trying to install\configure PCNS on both Windows and Linux clients.
PCNS installs just fine (PowerChute Network Shutdown 3.1.0. Build 4512) but during the configuration stage I get the following errors in the logs
12/05/2013 | 15:32:41 | Security information for https://x.x.x.x:443 is incorrect. Please check that the PowerChute User Name and Authentication Phrase match the Network Management Card. |
12/05/2013 | 15:32:41 | PowerChute cannot communicate with the Network Management Card. |
I've verified the username, password and auth phrase to be correct. I can log in to the symmetra using the username\password combo without issue.
The password and auth phrase are both 16 characters long and contain no special characters.
What can I try next?
Thanks,
Jason

Hi,
The user name and authentication phrase need to match for PCNS to communicate with the NMC. The user name must be 3 to 10 characters and the authentication phrase needs to be 15 to 32 characters. If you verified they do match you can add the system ip addresses to the NMC PCNS client list manually to see if communications is established. If it does not then reset the NMC to the default settings, reboot the NMC, and change PCNS to use apc for the user name and admin user phrase for the authentication phrase.
If these steps do not help I will need to know what version of Java is installed on the systems, the model of the NMC, and the firmware version.

Thanks Bill - I was using 'Administrator' as the username, changed it to something under 10 characters and things are working as they should - Did I miss that in the documentation?
Much Thanks,
Jason

Hi,
The information was incorrectly published and we are correcting the issue in the documentation for PCNS 3.1 due out this week.
