Hello,
I purchased an APC UPS on which I will be running Powerchute personal as soon as I receive the RJ45-USB cable.
I will be running a lower power PC on it: this PC has been configured to reboot automatically after power was restored after an outage.
Now I am wondering:
assume: the main power is cut: the UPS will keep the PC running until powerchute shuts down the PC (so I will not be waiting until the UPS battery is almost empty).
Assume the UPS then still has enough power for let's say 1 hour, but the main power is restored within this period.
Will the PC notice this, so that I will reboot ?
Thnaks,
Wim

No, if the UPS never turns off - therefore cutting power to the PC - the computer has no way to recognize that power has been lost & restored in order to automatically power back on.

Yes, depending on the unit, the UPS should go to sleep after graceful shutdown is complete. I honestly don't know much about the international models, so I'm not 100% sure if the Cyberfort unit would do that...

Hello,
I meanwhile read somewhere that the UPS after having shut down the PC will go into power saving mode (after 1 minute), which would mean that it cuts the battery power going to the PC, and that the power to the PC is only restored when the main power comes up again ? This would reboot my PC.
Can anyone confirm this is the standard behaviour with a Cyberfort 500 together with Powerchute person edition ?
Tx,
Wim
