Hello everyone!
I got a problem with the powerchute business edition software. This is a single server environment so I am just using the Agent on the Server and the Webinterface for configuration.
System:
OS: Windos SBS 2011
SMART-UPS 3000XL connected by USB
Java 8.51
Powerchute Business Edition: 9.1.1
The problem is that certain values are not stored in powerchute. I can for example change the setting under "energy usage" but I cannot change other configuration items such as shutdown times. As soon as I click on the Apply Button the changed field jumps back to the previous value.
I allready tried different browsers and also tried it by using a regular workstation. No luck.
The problem was the same with an older version of Powerchute so I updated it, but still the same.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Gerald

Hi,
When you run the 9.1.1 or 9.2 installers they look at the UPS model and if the UPS is a SUA Smart-UPS the 9.0.3 Agent is installed. If the UPS is a SMT, SMX, or SMC Smart-UPS the 9.1.1 or 9.2 Agent is installed. This is by design. SUA model Smart-UPS communicate using a different protocol than SMT, SMX, SMCs and therefore required a different Agent.
The values you are attempting to set are stored on / saved to the UPS. The values stored on the UPS are Low Battery, OS Shutdown time, UPS turn on percent, High transfer voltage, Lower transfer voltage, Audible alarms, Perform Self-Test. If PowerChute is receiving data from the UPS (see when UPS goes on battery) the issue is with the ability to send data and have it saved.
The next time you are at the site test communication with the UPS using a different system. If you have a Windows laptop attach it and install PowerChute. Then change the settings. Another test is to uninstall PowerChute on the Windows 11 system and install APCUPSD. Using the APCUPSD configuration INI file change the settings. Then uninstall APCUPSD and reinstall PowerChute. Check the setting to see if they remained or reverted. With either test if the settings revert the issue is with the UPS.

Hi,
Please provide a screen shot of the web page / setting you are experiencing the issue with. Also, what is the exact model number of the Smart-UPS? You can find the model number on the bar code sticker that will be on the back or bottom of the UPS. If the UPS has an LCD screen you ca get the model number under About "UPS Part No:".

Hi,
The screenshots show that you are running PowerChute Agent 9.0.3 or older not 9.1.1. Most of the data on the configuration page gets saved to / stored on the UPS. When you run the 9.1.1 installer it looks at the UPS model and if the UPS is a SUA Smart-UPS the 9.0.3 Agent is installed. If the UPS is a SMT, SMX, or SMC Smart-UPS the 9.1.1 Agent is installed.
NOTE: You can find the Agent version information under Help – About.

Thanks for your inputs.
I was at the site today so I was able to identify the model: SUA3000xli
To anser your questions:
On 8/31/2015 5:41 PM, Bill said:
- is the USB cable attached directly to the UPS or is the connection going through a USB hub?
- Does the UPS have a network management card install in it?
- Are there any other system attached to the UPS via serial?
1. yes directly attached - no hub
2. no
3. no
I also checked the version. You are right it is 9.0.3.604
So I uninstalled it, downloaded the new version and installed it again. It is again 9.0.3.604
I am sure that I downloaded 9.1.1. (Windows 2008 version from this site: http://www.apc.com/tools/download/software_comp.cfm?sw_sku=SFPCBE911&id=125&swfam=125) (filesize 202752KB). So how does it come that I again have 9.0.3.604 ?
