I've not yet installed Powerchute. My question is: Does Powerchute Home Edition have an option to "Do Nothing" when on battery power and battery gets low? This of course transfers the responsibility of a safe shutdown to the user which is a little unconventional but this is what I'd like to know. Thanks.

Thanks, i didn't know that monitoring only software was available.
You might take a look at a post i put in the Back-UPS and Surge forum. its entitled "Method for figuring time remaining on battery?"
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
PowerChute Personal Edition offers two options. Preserve Battery Power which will shut to computer down after the UPS has run on battery for x minutes. The other option is keep computer on as long as possible which will keep the computer running until there is x minutes remaining of run time. It does not offer the option to do nothing. keep the computer on as long as possible my meet your needs since it will wait until the battery is low before initiating the shutdown process.
Another option is APCUPSD as an alternative application if all you want is monitoring software.
