PowerChute and Vsphere 5.1 HA/DRS conflict with shutdown script for cluster

Good day,

I am using the PowerChute agent (latest version as of 5/30/2013). Vsphere 5.1 Virtual Center and I am trying to use the Clean Shutdown of Virtual Machines using PowerChute Network Shutdown in a HA Cluster

I am severe need of the following.. or having the following issue.

When I run the test (pull power out of the wall).. The script executes and I can see that the esxh host (first one in the list of the script) begins to initate shutdown. However, the VMware/HA/DRs or something seems to be over riding the settings that I have set on each host for their respective VMware vms. The Virtual Center still trys to migrate/vm each vm as it begins to shut down other vms etc..

Can someone please assist with a way to dissable how VMware Vsphere 5.1 handles the startup and or shutdown etc as used in conjunction with the shutdown script and power alert?

Sam,

Shutdownvms.sh contacts each host to determine what VMs are running and then send a shutdown command to those VMs. Once the delay time you have configured has elapsed PCNS then runs a Perl script that commands the hosts to shutdown. There should be no VMs running at that time to be migrated. If the VMs are not all shutting down before the Perl script runs then you need to increase the delay time to allow them to shut down properly.
