PowerChute PE won't shut down Windows 2008
Hi,
I've got an APC BackUPS Pro BR900GI UPS connected via USB to a Windows Server 2008 machine; I installed PowerChute PE 3.0, it installed without a problem, it finds the UPS with all available data (power consumption, voltage, ...), it properly recognizes when I pull the power cord (to simulate a power failure); self-test ran fine but...I just can't persuade PowerChute to actually shut down (or at least put in hibernation mode) Windows - e.g. when I set "Preserve battery power" to "2 min" and pull the plug, PC nicely counts down until "<1 min" and gets stuck there. Nothing happens, no error message, PowerChute is still responding to user action, Windows runs fine, there is just no shutdown/hibernation action taking place. I also tried to disable/enable hibernation - without success.
If anyone has a clue what the reason for this behavior could be, I'd greatly appreciate a hint. Or if someone could tell me how to set up apcupsd to find the BR900GI (apcupsd crashes with error 1067), or just knows a way to tell Win2008 to simply shutdown itself when it runs on battery, I'd be grateful as well...:-)

well, to begin, we don't test PCPE on Windows 2008 since its not a supported OS. only powerchute business edition is supported which is used with Smart UPS which is what is recommended for server level hardware.
