PowerChute Network Shutdown

Hi,

I have PowerChute Network Shutdown version 4.4.1 on Linux centos (8).

We need to upgrade as 5.1.0 is available what's the best way to upgrade the documentation advises to run dnf update from the Linux VM but APC advise rebuild the OVA from the newer version.

If i run dnf update i get a error that it cannot find the mirror server as the server looks deprecated after a centos update.

It seems pretty backward on having to reinstall and reconfigure the VM with the same settings on every update.

Cheers James

Resolved this my self by enabling SSH and then logging in via WINSCP locating the ini file backing it shutting down the VM and then spinning up the new VM enabling SSH and copying the INI once all configured but the new system wants a licence now so ended up keeping the old VM and will have a look at costs for the new licence which is very unacceptable & cheeky from APC Scheider. As I may have to use the old software just depends on the costing.

@Harg-IT

 If you would like to use the PowerChute 4.4.1 configuration with 5.1, you can save the pcnsconfig.ini file from the 4.4.1 VM and install the 5.1 VM. Once the 5.1 VM has been installed, you can edit the 5.1 pcnsconfig.ini file and copy in the required sections from the 4.4.1 file. Before editing the file, you should stop the PowerChute service, edit the file, and restart the service.

Note: The PowerChute 5.1 VM is a AlmaLinux. CentOS 8 reached end of life 31 December 2021.

@BillP

All I have is the vmware Linux Box and the web gui.

In those i cannot see any way to export the file in question.

I presume it be rebuilding from scratch which as i said seems backward.
