I have a APC Smart-UPS X 3000VA Rack/Tower LCD 200-240V with Network Card, installed and connect to a server via USB cable but when I install Powerchute and try to discover the device. Doesn't find anything, no error message or anything like that.
The server's device manager is showing it as a "HID UPS battery"
Am using version 9.1 of PowerChute.
Any advice?

Sarah,
When running the installer are you asked to select DB9 or RJ45 connection and what is the system OS?
BTW Since the SMX3000 has a network card I suggest using PowerChute Network Shutdown instead of PowerChute Business Edition but it is up to you.

I wasn't getting the option to select DB9 or RJ45 during the install. That was on a Windows 2003 box.
After posting I've found the Network shutdown software which seems to have installed okay without any issues.
Thanks for responding
