PowerChute And Smart-UPS Configuration

Dear All,

I am new in APC PowerChute.

I need your help

I have 10 servers, and i want the UPS to send signal to servers that will automatically turn off them when there is still 10minutes remaining battery.

They are connected to one APC Smart UPS.

This is the default settings of APC

UPS Confi

And this is the configuration on the server PowerChute

The whole idea i want the UPS to signal the servers when it's on battery.

And the servers will turn off automatically when the ups has only 10minutes remaining battery.

Can you help me how to configure it? Step by Step

Thanks

Hi,

Change the Low Battery duration to 10 minutes. What will happen in when the UPS falls below 10 minutes of runtime it will signal all of the PowerChute Network Shutdown Agents to power down their respective OS. The other option is to select Runtime Remaining Below Threshold event in each PowerChute Network Shutdown Agents and set the event to 10 minutes.

Thanks Bill for your help.

I changed the Low Battery duration to 10minutes, it's better because i have 9 servers and after 1month they will be 20 servers.

The Events in PowerChute agent "UPS On Battery" is disabled by default, Should i enable it? Or leave it disabled?

Thanks

Hi,

No. You do not need to enable the On Battery event. When the UPS reaches low battery the NMC will automatically send a shutdown signal to all PCNS Agents that are configured to listen to that specific NMC.
