Hi everyone,
I´m new here, but i have one question. No, I have two.
We have in our serverroom a Symmetra 16000 with four Batterie and 5 Powermodules. Last week we switch it in the bypass mode to clean up the modules and the rack, it worked perfect afterwards. But on the weekend the Symmetra produces hundreds of error messages like "External battery pack communication lost" or "External battery pack communication established". After I removed and added the batterie packs they worked perfectly. What is the cause for this behavior, can anyone tell me?
My second problem is, that after this problems one power module has the status OFF&OK and I don't know how to activate it and what does it mean?
That's it, I think. Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I have replaced the faulty power module with a normal working module, and put the faulty one in the shaft of the good working but I still have the same error in the status overwiev for the faulty power module
Can you help me?

Hello:
As for your first inquiry, perhaps there was a loose connection on the extended run communication (the small cable with RJ9 ends). If this connection was not solid, it could cause some intermittent communication issues to that frame, which may have thrown that error on the network card. How old is this LX?
As for the second question, I would try reseating that power module to see if that will get it to turn on. It seems it is operating ok but is not turned on. You can try just unscrewing the microlatch on it for 30 seconds or so, then screwing it back in.
Let us know if this helps, or if you have any additional trouble.
Thanks.

Thanks for your quick response.
About1: We don't have external batterie modules, only those who are installed in the UPS. The UPS is about 8 years old but the batterie packs were renewed 1 year ago.
About2: I have removed the Power Module but it is the same error. Is it possible that this is normal for a configuration with redundancy n+1? Stupid question, but my boss and I aren´t sure.
Sorry that I need so long to response but unfortunately I couldn´t write earlier.

Hi:
That is not normal behaviour for a power module, even with redundancy. They should always be showing On & Ok when the UPS is online. Perhaps you can try swapping two power modules, and see if the issue follows the power module or the bay.
Thank you,E

Hi,
I think we have found the problem.
All three fuses of the input power were broke.
We´ll replace them and have a look if it works fine afterwards.
Thanks
