Hi,
Do any other users out there have a problem managing their PCNS installations over time?
AGS did a great job installing my new ISX solution. My rep sized it for growth and I am happy as a clam. My question involves Power Chute Network Shutdown.
When I configure Power Chute Network Shutdown, I tell it how many seconds to be on battery before I shut down. The problem is that number of seconds changes when I add servers, network gear, and disk drives my battery runtime decreases. My batteries are three years old and my runtime decreases. It will go back up when I refresh batteries next year.
I have "Informational" "Important" and "Critical" servers. Each with a variable rating for how many minutes I need that application level available.
Re-calculating the seconds of runtime needed for 400 servers every time the load changes, and reconfiguring PCNS on each is a pain. I'd rather have the PCNS feature of being able to select the "percentage of battery runtime remaining" as a shutdown trigger, and have APC manage the seconds after that.
Tech support says they don't have that in the PCNS roadmap. How do other users solve this?
