Power CHute business edition and 9617 network cards

Okay, might seem simple, but I can't finad an answer. On the website or forum.

Can Power Chute Business Edition monitor a UPS through the ethernet port on the 9617 card?

I have several servers with ups's attached and the agent software installed and configured. They all work fine.

But I have a new UPS that will be in a remote location without a nearby server/workstation. I dropped in the 9617 card and I have it configured and can scan it with it's dedicated IP address.

But.... is there anyway to get Business Edition to poll that UPS and provide me with a single POC for all my UPS status'? I used the device list wizard and it won't show it on a scan, I tried to manually input the IP, also, no joy. Does Business edition only work with agents? Is tehre a way to get a computer to be an agent with a UPS attached on an ethernet?

Thanks,
TC

Thanks, but that is not what I an looking for.

I do not need shutdown capacity. I just want monitoring and a single point interface.

Let me phrase it this way:
Can powerchute business edition monitor a UPS through a 9617 card?

No, PowerChute Business Edition uses the smart signalling serial port on the UPS. If you have the AP9617 Network Management Card in the UPS, you have much better IP based management. You need to assign the AP9617 with an IP address, and you will be able to web, telnet, ftp, etc into the UPS to monitor multiple alarms and configurations. Here is our Knowledge Base document explaining how to setup the Network Management Card:

http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3061

So in other words, the ethernet port on the AP9617 is meant to attach the Network Management Card to the network, it is not meant for use with PowerChute Business Edition. PowerChute Business Edition communicates one to one with either a serial or USB connection. PowerChute Business Edition and the AP9617 do not work together and should not be used on the same UPS.

Thanks.
