Phantom Voltage - Neatural and Ground

May i know if this phantom voltage is also applicable when the UPS is On Line mode? I saw on the KB question regarding the voltage reading between the N-G when the UPS is On battery. I would like to verify this phantom voltage can't damage to connected equipment when UPS is on Battery Mode but how about when the UPS is On Line it will be the same?

Hi Hanz,

Could you please confirm what exact UPS model your question is in relation to so that we can be absolutely sure of the correct answer? As far as I know, this will not be the same when the UPS is online but would double check based on your UPS model.

Ok, did some checking. Just to be clear, the UPS would never allow anything through in any mode of operation that could damage attached equipment. As far as the phantom/floating voltage, my original thought was confirmed with local Smart-UPS expert I asked.

ok thanks for the info angela, i asking this because our client required L-N-G line orientation for their test equipment and also the test equipment required N-G = 0V thats why i try to verify this is phantom voltage can't damage the connected load even we can measure a voltage between the Neutral and Ground.
