New Back-UPS Pro 1000 / Windows 7 64bit / PowerChute v2.0, 2.11, 3.0
I've been trying to resolve a PPE installation issue for a couple weeks now, and I thought I'd give the forum a chance before returning the Pro 1000 to the store.
The installer unpacks and begins the installation routine. Goes about a third of the progress bar then flings up the "Please check the USB connectivity....." The unit is plugged into a USB port on the motherboard, not a hub. The other end is plugged into the correct port on the APC.
I live in an area with constant power failures and the lack of being able to do an orderly shutdown when I'm away makes the device useless to me - Help very much appreciated, IM

Does your computer recognize the UPS when you plug in the USB cable? If you go to the device manager via the control panel, you should be able to tell. If you search for device manager under the start menu, it should come up. The easiest way to do this would be to open device manager before you plug in the USB cable. Once open, plug it in and see if the device manager refreshes. If it does not, it could be either the cable, the computer or the back up. Unfortunately, it will be hard to tell without another cable, computer or UPS to test with.
