PDU notification and SMS

We have begun placing our PDU's (AP7830, AP7840, etc.) on the network for remote monitoring and problem notification. This is something we have already done with our MGE UPS's and environmental monitors.

When a device needs to notify us, it sends an e-mail to an address that redirects the message to the e-mail inbox, the alpha pager and cell phone (via SMS) of 2 people. I planned to do the same with the APC PDU's. The problem is that there are 2 formats for outgoing messages, long and short. The short message doesn't contain enough info, but will make it to the cell phones. The long format contains too much info and because of its size, fails to make it to the phones.

Are there any plans to make the messages SMS friendly? It would really be nice if we could pick the info we wanted to go out in the notification.

I understand the concern and it seems something like this should be forthcoming. Maybe Mr. Cap1 can shed some light on this. However, being able to choose what is sent out is more than likely never going to be possible. It would have to change the firmware for ever single device, and have customized messages for regular Smart-UPS, RT's, Symmetra RM's, LX's, 3-Phase equip., Environmental equip, PDU's, etc.
