Hmm, OK. Actually, let's proceed with FTP'ing AOS 3.9.0 on there and letting it reboot and see if then AOS 3.9.0 is the active OS afterwards when you serial in. If it is, it will probably have wiped out rpdu 3.7.4 application bin file so try to push that second if AOS 3.9.0 successfully loads.
Here are the FTP instructions if you need reference (refer to NMC1 FTP instructions) -> http://www.schneider-electric.us/support/index?page=content&country=US〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA156047
Let me know if you have any questions prior to trying.

Hi Stefan,
Which .exe did you download for firmware? It sounds like maybe you got apc_hw02_aos374_rpdu374.exe - is that accurate?
The first question is what firmware did the AP7920 have on it when you started?
Essentially, you always need to load an AOS (APC Operating System file) first, let the device reboot its management interface, then push the application file (rpdu 374.bin in this case), let it reboot once more to load the application, and then it'd be all set. AOS 2.0.2 would need to be loaded if your PDU was at an originating AOS earlier than 2.0.2. If that was the case, you'd do AOS 2.0.2, reboot, AOS 3.7.4, reboot, rpdu application 3.7.4, reboot, done.
Depending on your answers to above, we are likely able to fix this but we need to know if you can access the PDU now in any way (FTP, serial, etc) and then see what files are loaded on it now by looking at it's file directory or "About" section in the menu if you can access it.

Hmm, can you try adding a few more things to make sure it registers a larger load? I think we have changed a little how accuracy/squelching works between firmware versions based on some of the notes here -> http://www.schneider-electric.us/support/index?page=content&country=US〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA156074
