PCPE 3.0

I was having all kinds of problems with PCPE v.2. So I uninstalled it, removed registry entries, and installed PCPE v 3.0. This new version works much better. But I do have a couple of questions.

1. When I click on "Technical Data", my floppy drive goes crazy trying to access a disk when the drive is empty. I put a floppy in the drive, and it settles down. What's up with that?

2. Also, I failed to read the release notes before installation of version 3. So I installed the program to it's own root directory, and not in the Program Files directory like the notes say. Version 2 help on this forum for not finding the rundll module, was to install in the root directory. So, do I need to move this to the Program Files directory, or can I leave it where it is?

Thanks,

Dave

I forgot to mention that I'm running XP Pro on a Dell XPS Gen 5 computer.

h1. this is now fixed!

PCPE version 3.0.0.1 is now available on the web. This is an interim release that is available in English & German and addresses three major concerns.

Fixes in this release:*

•With Windows UAC enabled, when a user logged on to Windows Vista or Windows 7, the UAC dialog always asked the user to approve starting the PowerChute Systray icon. This will no longer happen.

•After un-installing PowerChute, hibernation was not being restored and has been corrected.

• When selecting PowerChute Technical data screen it would be displayed very slowly and sometimes the internal PC fan/floppy drive made a lot of noise (indicating over usage). This has also been addressed.

Here is the link to the software or you can browse to it on apc.com/tools/download

Well, that clears that up nicely. Thanks very much.
