I have an SU700RM that was in service quite a while back. I want to replace the battery and use the system but the current battery is dead so the UPS will not power on. The SU700RM2U uses an RBC-22 battery that is (2) SLA 12v batteries with a pack output voltage of 12V. I have a good RBC-24 from an SU1500RM but it has (4) SLA 12v batteries with a pack output voltage of 12V.
Should I be able to temporarily use the good RBC-24, connected it to the SU700RM long enough to make sure the UPS powers on before I spend the money to buy a new RBC-22 for the SU700RM? I believe this should work but if anyone can confirm I would appreciate it.

i was personally under the impression that these older units would not turn on without a good battery or some type of DC voltage..

Hi jdormal, I haven't had a chance to try out what you are looking into doing. However, the UPS should still power on if it were just batteries that needed replacement as long as you're feeding it good input power, so most likely its the UPS that has problems. I suggest that you look into trading this unit in to get a new one. APC has a TradeUPS program where you can get a discount on the new unit you'll get and you'll also get a return label you can use to send the SU700RM to us for disposal.

When I originally looked into why the UPS would not power, no battery, the APC article stated that 12v needed to be present from the battery for the UPS to power on.
