I currently own an SMT1500 and have for several years. I have the UPS connected via USB to a QNAP NAS which recognizes the UPS and when I'm on battery backup. The NAS will gracefully shut down automatically within 10 min of a power failure. I would like to do the same with my PC (i.e. connect via USB and the PC recognizes the power failure event and gracefully shuts down at 10 min) but there is only a single USB connection at the back of the UPS. Is this as simple as purchasing a AP9620 card and installing it in the SMT1500 so I have two USB connections to the UPS?

Tom,
If you install the AP9620 into the UPS the built in serial and USB connectors will be disabled. Best option is to purchase AP9630, configure the UPS for the local network and install PowerChute Network Shutdown on the the PC leaving the NAS attached to the USB port.
Another option is to disconnect the NAS and connect the PC to the UPS via USB. Then install PowerChute Business Edition on the PC and write a script that PowerChute will run that will commands the NAS down prior to the OS powering down.
