We have two networks in our lab - a management network that has internet access, and a lab network with no internet access.
We are required to put our PCNS client machines on the lab network for security reasons. We'd like to put our UPS NMC on the management network so that it can send email alerts to our smtp server on the same network. Is a configuration like this possible that still retains network shutdown functionality?
Our NMC is an AP9631 and we're using PCNS v3. We noticed the NMC has a network port in front and back - can we use both ports to dual-home the NMC?
Thanks.

hi, you can put the clients and NMC on a different subnet as long as they can communicate properly. here is a doc on how PCNS communicates with the NMC -> http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/TDOY-5UQVBV_R2_EN.pdf
this document also might help for when you have a lot of clients but i think it also talks about if you have multiple subnets -> http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/BKIR-6QWKC5_R1_EN.pdf
also, i am not sure what you mean on the AP9631. it only has one network connection on it. if you look at the front of the NMC, from left to right, you will see two USB ports, two RJ-45 style universal input/output (which are used for accessories like envrionmental probes only and are not network connections) and then outlined in silver/chrome is the ethernet jack which can accept up to (1) IPv4 address and then also has an IPv6 interface on it.
hope that helps.

Ok, thanks for the info. I'll check the links.
The 2nd network port is located on the back of the actual UPS unit (the SURT20KRMXLT unit). We weren't sure if this could be utilized in a dual home config or not.
Thanks.
