Hi,
I"m the software engineer and have some issues.
We have a Netbotz 420 v 2.6.2 Wallmount are working normally. In the document of v2.6.2, it's support USB Mutitech Modem GPRS.
Now it's still OK except ... this issue.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We just bought a USB GPRS Modem F4 version (900/1800) and test with a PC with SIM Card. It's working well after we install the driver in the PC.
We install the USB modem direct to the USB port in the Netbotz. This appliance still reconigzed USB modem and activate the new Serial Device. After we declared model "GPRS" with appliance, it's active SMS icon on Configuration Tab.
Everything seem ok. But don't know why this modem is not active the SIM Card. It can't send the SMS & the signal is "unknow", status "unknow".
The LED indicator TX, RX is not turn on :((
We tried to change the SIM Card, reboot ... also can't solve the problem.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can you help to verify that anything can help ? or we can install the new driver of this modem in Netbotz.
I think some thing changing in the modem firmware so they can't be fully supported in the Netbotz 420 v2.6.2.
Thank & regards

Hi, team
I'd just update with you the issues with Multitech USB Modem GPRS is solved but not fully test.
We tried to re plugin many time of Mutitech USB Modem GPRS (~ 11 - 12time) and finally its' receveid the GSM signal 51db - excellent signal.
We 'd just do a quick test with the Netbotz 500 and 420 (v2.6.2) and find it's working well but some time the signal "unknown" (event this modem can send SMS) and find some interesting
1. We found that this modem is not worked if the antena (external atenna) weren't installed. Maybe it's depend on the GSM signal.
2. Some time it's make Netbotz Appliance hang and reset the configuration so the engineer should be backup the configuration.
3. Some time Netbotz AW dectect a second port in the USB serial interface... please inorge this.

I have contacted our Netbotz team and either I will respond with information regarding your issue shortly, or one of our NB members will.

Hello,
Is the model of the modem you purchased MT5634ZBA-USB-V92? This is the only model of MultiTech modem that we have drivers for, and there is no way to install updated drivers. I might assume that the F4 is a newer version of the original product and may use different drivers, etc...
This knowledgebase outlines the only suppported modem for the 420 and it's model #: http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=7458
Unfortunately, this product line has been discontinued (and replaced with the Next Generation NetBotz products) and there are no plans to release any further updates for the v2 NetBotz firmware. This means there is no way to add the drivers for updated models.
Future modem support for NetBotz will be carried on with the Next Generation product line, and the following knowledgebase outlines currently supported modems for the new product line: http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=9679

Hi,
Thanks for your help.
Yes, Multitech have only this new USB Modem GPRS
Actually, we sole 02 yrs APC Netbotz software support to customer.
In this case, if APC didn't support anymore, why still quote software support to us.
We tried to buy Enfora Card (with success full in several our project) but it's nolonger exits.Only Multitech USB Modem GPRS is supported (in document clearly).

I just want to clarify that APC is still providing technical support for v2 NetBotz appliances, which software support is required for. The only caveat here is that we have since come to find out that there were issues with the v2 NetBotz modem capabilities in the latest firmware revisions that unfortunately won't be addressed since the product has already passed it's development lifecycle.
If you wish to use a modem with a NetBotz appiance, I would recommend the current generation of NetBotz products.

Hi, Mtroha,
Can you help to check again the scope of work, I'm looking for the solution to solve problem , not on this way you mention.
I don't know software support have another meaning.
1. If we don't buy PSM, APC must still support their software but without any patch upgrade.
2. If we buy PSM, APC will fixed issues. I said in clearly that, Multitech Modem is recommend by APC in version 2.6.2, not by us. ???. If they said it's not fully support, please note detail in document.
3. The Netbotz 420 APC, we 'd just bought on June 2009 before APC anounce the new generation Netbotz. If APC don't support, please don't sole to us this model..And this model is supported Multitech USB Modem GPRS.
Mutitech, Enfora is recommmended by APC, not by customer.
If APC do the way like "Sorry, APC know that this model were recommend by APC but they don't support, so maybe you should buy us another system call the next generation ...", I think APC still is kid company, ... sorry to say that.
