Hi Everyone,
I am dealing with a bizarre problem with a KVM2132P unit ('APC KVM 2G, Enterprise Digital/IP, 2 Remote Users, 1 Local User, 32 ports with Virtual Media').
Ever since I deployed this IP KVM in early January 2014, I've been noticing that the KVM would sometimes kick me out of the web GUI when I was making configuration changes such as creating new local users or assigning host or PDU outlet access to users.
This is still happening. I'd like to determine what is causing it and how I could correct it. Here are the relevant architecture & configuration details.
The single KVM2132P is connected to 7 KVM0216A units ('APC KVM 2G, Enterprise Analog, 2 Local Users, 16 ports with Virtual Media') in a two-bus tiered configuration.
The KVM2132P is running v1.0.083 firmware. The KVM0216A are running v1.0.077 firmware.
To five KVM0216A units, I've connected 2 x AP8941 ('Rack PDU 2G, Switched, ZeroU, 30A, 200/208V, (21) C13 & (3) C19'). To 2 KVM0216A units, I've connected 1 x AP8941.
The IP KVM uses a RADIUS server to authenticate its end users. To create new local users, I connect to the KVM over HTTPS and use the web GUI. At this time, I have 38 local users.
There are 68 servers that connect to KVM0216A units via KVM-USB ('APC KVM 2G, Server Module, USB'). Power is provided by 12 APC UPS units ('SUA5000RMT5U').
We allow users to power-on,power-off,reboot outlets on AP8941 PDUs that are assigned to them.
I feel that I've already submitted a flood of information that might or might not be required to troubleshoot this problem. I've opened an APC Case in September & techs have been trying to find the reason for this weirdness but so far without success.
They've analyzed my configuration file and concluded that it did not look abnormal. They sent me a new KVM2132P hardware to which I uploaded my configuration file, but the issues persist.
They sent me a newer (not yet released to general public) firmware for the KVM2132P ('KVM2132P1_0_086CC_001.CSF'), but that didn't solve the problem.
My current best guess is that there is no problem with the hardware, but that buggy firmware (from ATEN) somehow passed Quality Assurance and made it into the KVM2132P hardware sold to customers.
If you have any thoughts or suggestions about the above, I'd really like to hear from you. I've been debugging this problem for over 2 months & I am running out of ideas & things to try.

Hi,
Sorry - I was on vacation so I apologize for the lack of reply. Though, my colleague was working with you I think and now he is on vacation for a few weeks. I know this has been annoying and I thank you for your patience while helping us debug it. I will check in on this today as I know we made a few suggestions to try and identify what criteria must be true for this to happen and on what firmwares. This was escalated internally and will continue to be until we are able to provide you with a suitable resolution.
