Managing a single Smart-UPS 1400 via serial connection under Windows 7

I have a Smart-UPS 1400NET connected to a Windows 7 PC via the Com1 serial port and am having trouble getting Powerchute Business Edition to manage it for me. The agent installs fine and recognized the UPS correctly. The server appears to install fine as doe the Console, but when I try to connect to the server I get an error stating that the console is unable to connect to the server and to make sure the server software is running. (All three components are installed on the same PC.) When I launch the PBEServer application I get an error message stating "StartServiceControlDispatcher failed" If I'm only managing a single UPS protected PC do I need all three components? If I do, how can I resolve this error.

You do not need all 3 components. Are you able to launch the Agent itself? You should see this under the start menu, all programs(or something similar). You can also try the link below in a web browser. Are you using the latest version of powerchute? 9.0.1 ?
