I just installed an APC 10000 RT under an Intel Modular Server (6 computete modules, "SAN") that has NO SERIAL PORTS!
I am running CLI mode Linux (No gui) and would like to use SNMP to monitor the UPS status and perform shutdowns, etc..
I've configured both SNMP V1 and V3 on the APC Web/SNMP Management Card (MB:v3.8.6 PF:v3.5.5 PN:apc_hw02_aos_355.bin AF1:v3.5.5 AN1:apc_hw02_sumx_355.bin...
But it does not seem to have a MIB for battery status and such as others do. For example, when I run "snmpwalk" I get a full set of MIBS, but not anything I (or snmp-ups using apcc) can recognize as the battery status, etc..
I'm not a hard core APC fan, and I am very confused by the amount of variants of APC UPS's and their variations of SNMP MIBS. and am going nuts trying to figure out how to communicate with this unit.
Does anyone know which MIBS are what or where I can get the right definition file?
Oh, side note: It's installed in S. America, I am now in the USA. I can access it via VPN and Telnet, barely, not enough bandwidth for a web session.

Side note: The powerchute software requires Java/JRE. - Which is what keeps me from using it.

You only need the PowerNet MIB for all APC branded products. Here's the latest version:
[PowerNet MIB 3.9.5|http://www.apcc.com/tools/download/software_comp.cfm?sw_sku=SFPMIB395]
For the basic battery status, you might try:
snmpget -c public -v 1 IP_GOES_HERE .1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1.2.1.1.0

Thats nice, got the MIB, any clues on what to do with it? When I run that command, I get a value of "2".
And no, I'm not normally a sysadmin/network admin doing this kind of thing, but for this special case, I am relearning.
And yes, I'll be figuring this out today as I relearn things I forgot on purpose 10 years ago.
Note to all the sales-droids that e-mailed me from my post: If you aren't able to answer the questions, don't offer to sell me product.

For that OID, "2" is batteryNormal. [This web page|http://www.karlkatzke.com/using-snmpwalk-and-a-vendor-mib-file/] seems to describe how to install and use the MIB on linux-type systems so you can get more descriptive names. I used the GetIF utility in windows to browse the MIB and give you the OID for basic battery status.
There is open source software on the internet for driving shutdowns using SNMP monitoring, however the APC solution is to use the free PowerChute Network Shutdown which works with your network management card to perform a safe shutdown of your computers. You can download it [from here|http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SFPCNS223].
