Dear team

Hi,

As we know electronic components and electrical equipments have an end of life and must be replace.

Is it right for UPS components such as AC/DC capacitors, IGBT inverter, etc?

There are consumable components should be replaced at end of its service life:

1. DC Capacitors: 5 years service life.

2. DC Capacitors: 10 years service life.

3. Fans: 10 years service life.

4. Power supply board: 10 years service life.

While "semi-organic devices" such as electrolytic capacitors tend to break down gradually over their lifespan, usually in a UPS these are of very high quality / specification compared to what is seen in commercial products such as televisions or vcrs. For example "High temperature, Low ESR" capacitors are used which will run cooler and last longer. Semiconductors such as IGBT's could last decades and decades if they are properly cooled and their design limits are not exceeded. We have APC Matrix UPS in the field that are still going strong after 21 years of use - the only thing replaced being fans and batteries.
