Issues with APC SRT5KXLI

I have recently completed a installation for APC SRT5KXLI with 3 SRT192BP. The hand wiring was completed to the main power. But after powering on the UPS i see the UPS is displaying a red alert after a few mins and shwing up a message called Replace All RBCs. The Event log shows RBC needs Replacement Event Code 181. Does this shows a problem with the UPS or the problem with the Batteries. this is totally a new installlation. I have disconnected the battery from the SRT192BP too.

Sir I have contacted and emailed the local Tech support engineer here in Riyadh Saudi Arabia and his advised was to Update the firmware of the UPS. And it seems my problem worsened. I have followed the steps on upgrading the firmware of APC UPS SRT5KLXI with three battery packs connected to the UPS. The firmware has been updated from UPS 4.0 to UPS 4.1. We have updated the UPS thru USB connection using firmware upgrade wizard. We followed what was instructed on the manual on how to update firmware.

  1. Output Power of UPS turned off.
  2. External battery packs connected.
  3. Update thru USB using firmware upgrade wizard v4.1.1.

After the update there's no more error indicating at the UPS with three battery packs connected to it. When we look at the Run time of the UPS with the same load as with before with two battery packs which was 1hr 35mins now it is down to 14mins. Then we look at the Menu/status/battery it doesn't detect the battery packs anymore. The UPS is now running with its internal battery packs even if i have connected three battery packs as of the moment.

Can you please give another solution for my problem.. It is really frustrating and the thought that it would be OK.

Hi,

There should be a grounding cable the came with the battery packs. Be sure the cable has been connected to each battery pack and the ground is good.

Hello,

It's been some time i had this issue. I remember I had connected the ground wire between the battery packs and the UPS. I raised the issue with APc and took itto the service center. If i remember correctly, the battery packs were replaced and also ups board was also changed.
