Hi There,
Working with some used lab gear, I have an AP7900 I'd like to use. When I plug it in, I get a solid amber LED and NOTHING else. I don't have any histrory on the unit, it was in a group of devices returned from the field. Any chance I can rehab it or do I need to scrap this thing?
Thanks,
Johnny

There are two separate controllers in that unit - the NMC side, which is similar to the AP9617; and the PDU side which is unique to the PDU. The LED you are seeing is on the PDU side of things. What would be of more interest is what the LEDs on the NMC side are doing (they're the ones on the network jack).
If you have a serial cable, you can connect to the console port and see if the NMC side is responding. The NMC has a better view of what is happening on the PDU side. If you manage to get a response from the NMC, try connecting it to the network and doing a firmware update. I don't think the PDU has downloadable firmware (the Rack ATS which uses similar hardware has downloadable firmware for the ATS side).
If both the PDU and NMC sides are dead, I'd suspect something in common, like the DC power supply. But that gets into opening the units up, which is unsupported and voids the warranty (if still in effect). And it requires a level of familiarity with the hardware as well as safety precautions that are likely outside the scope of the average end user.
