Input Phase Selector switch

Hi all
Please let me know what happens if I put the Input Phase Selector Switch not in accordance with the power feeding:
- Connect the UPS to a three phase mains and put the switch in "1"
- Connect the UPS in single phase and put the switch in "3"
Can the UPS become damaged because of this mismatch?
Please consider SURT10000XLI UPS.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I dont have any experience with this issue.

1. But as my knowleage, the switch selection in "1 "will make a solid connect between 3phase input. You will got the short - circuit in case apply the 3 phase to this selection.

Why ?

Rectifier only provide convert from AC to DC.

The IGBT (or SCR in each phase is sized ~ 10kVA/3). in 3:1 mode, it's ok
In the 1:1 mode, the L1 can't support enough capacity so it's will make a solid 3 phase. L1, L2, L3. (The bypass only take from L1).

2. If you put the single phase to but select 3 phase. It's won't have any issue (this is site wiring failure alarm, or make the Input outside of tolerat - run battery).

Hi

Thanks for your post but you are wrong.

Your speech assumes that the "input selector phase switch" is a power one and it is not. It is a signal switch, and acts to the control like a setup parameter. It has influence on the UPS behavior and, I think, on the way control modulates input switching when supplying the internal inverter from AC mains.

The UPS doesn't have a controlled switch - IGBT module - per phase. Instead it has a bridge rectifier per phase (two bridges in parallel on phase L1 to support 1:1 running). IGBT modules are assembled after input rectification.

Hi there

Pleeeeeeease can you leave here any support to my inquiry?

I have one SURT10000XLI that was connected to a three phase system with the phase selector switch in the position "1".
The input/battery converter - PFC or DC/DC from batteries - became damaged. One IGBT module was broken.

I would like to know if those things - switch position and converter damage - can be correlated.
