We are a 100% linux shop. How do I update our PDU firmware from linux? I downloaded the latest update 3.5.5 but it appears to be an EXE. Is there anyway to extract out the binary blob from the exe and install it via tftp or scp or something?

Hmmm I may have bricked my pdu 😞
I uploaded apc_hw02_rpdu_355.bin via ftp and all went fine. The pdu restarted before I could upload apc_hw02_aos_356.bin. Now I get the following on the web interface:
Error: The application was not able to load.
You are attempting to access an APC device.
There was a problem loading the application. Please login to the device via telnet for more details.
I logged in via telnet and it says similar things like "app not running..."
I tried uploading the aos binary but it doesn't appear to be sticking. Any ideas?

Hi Scott,
If your PDU has an IP address and FTP enabled, you can simply upload the aos_xx.bin file to the PDU and it will do the rest.
Hope this helps.

Message was edited by: scottb - I used unzip not gunzip

It is important to enter binary mode after you start the FTP session before attempting to load either the AOS or APP files. The AOS file should be loaded first and you should logout of the FTP session after uploading this AOS file. Give the PDU about a minute to allow it to reboot, then establish the FTP session again, enter binary mode and upload the APP file. After logging out the PDU will reboot again. I usually login via telnet after uploading both files and there is a section called Stat on the first page that pops up. There should be three letters next to the word Stat and they all should have pluses.
Stat: P+ N+ A+
If they are all pluses the firmware was loaded properly.

I was apparently too impatient. I didn't expect to be cut off from ftp after the first upload. Then the ssh connection just hung (probably because of a slow cpu). I ftp'd in the other bin file and after the auto-reboot I was good to go. Thanks all.
