How to understand the firmware versions vs the recommended download file
I am on an airgapped network performoring an audit and need to know how my firmware versions relate to the offered files that are downloaded. I'm looking at both UPS and RDPU. In this case as an example a RDPU AP8659. I'm finding the same confusion with the UPS's
So I see: Secure NMC System (SNS) Tool for RPDU and NMC3 v3.0 Firmware Release
and Network Management Card v7.1.3 RPDU 2G Firmware Executable
And my RPDU says:
Rack PDU : version 6.4
APC OS : Version 6.4
Boot monitor: ver 1.0.8
The included PDFs dont supply more information. For my audit I need to show how far behind we are. As we have a range of probably 40+ devices with different firmwares etc where can I easly find this information?

For more specific information you’ll need to submit a technical support request with APC. Generally speaking as with almost every hardware vendor.
Software / firmware is released on major / minor block releases. A major release in the APC world is 1.XX - 7.XX. A minor block release is an interim iteration say 6.0.0 - 6.1.2 etc.
Keep in mind interim firmware releases are issued for security and major bugs too.
Based on what information you have provided this PDU is on a 6.XX major block. Whether there’s a 7.XX major release available you’ll need to check the APC website as it relates to your specific unit.
NOTE: If you subscribe to the Secure Network program the Major / Minor firmware versions will not be the same as the none secure subscription hardware. ☝️
