My problem is that the PCNS interface does not expose this particualr event, or indeed any other that is particularly useful for normal loss-of-power situations. As I understand it PCNS ALWAYS treats this as causing shutdown, which is reasonable, but since it is not in the event list, you can't set shutdown delays as you have explained for each server (PCNS agent). Have I missed something or is the "event of your choice" limited to only a small number of them. If so - in my personal opinion only - this is a generally unsuitable one.

You can work around that to some degree by setting the low battery duration on the NMC to the amount of runtime before the first computer shuts down. Then use the "script execution time" setting in PCNS to delay subsequential computer shutdowns. The downside is once the first computer shuts down, the rest must shut down as well.

You have mentioned that "you can configure each one to shut down at different times based on the event of your choice (e.g. when the UPS switches to battery power)."
Indeed I can see the event On Battery in the PCNS interface, however a more useful event seems to be Low Battery. This is defined as:
Low Battery Condition: Occurred The UPS is running on battery, and the batteries are low and will soon be exhausted if power is not restored. This event will cause PowerChute to start shut down activities immediately.
This means that the shutdown can occur at a time that is directly related to how much load is being supported and hence runtime remains, rather than how long the power has been off which is generally not really as important as how much longer the load can be sustained.
My problem is that the PCNS interface does not expose this particualr event, or indeed any other that is particularly useful for normal loss-of-power situations.
